Dr. Cynthia Schuck-Paim received her PhD degree at the University of Oxford (UK), which was developed in the interface of Biology, Experimental Psychology and Experimental Economics, focusing on decision-making and the theoretical analysis of risk-sensitivity. Her PhD was followed by a research fellowship in the same institution and various projects as an independent consultant for institutions in the US and the United Kingdom.

As a scientist Dr. Schuck-Paim published a number of articles in top international journals in her fields, on subjects ranging from economics and evolutionary models of choice behavior to the mathematical modeling of species distributions based on climatic factors. She participated as invited speaker in conferences in various countries and has taught statistics, data analysis and experimental design for over 5 years for graduate and undergraduate students in the UK (Oxford University) and Brazil (University of Sao Paulo).

Dr. Schuck-Paim co-founded Origem Scientifica, a South American consultancy firm which provides scientific, analytical and technical solutions in the analysis of large and complex volumes of data, epidemiological time-series, the development of analytical tools, mathematical modeling and the use of geographic information systems. She he also been involved during the last years in activities devoted to the use of web and IT solutions for public health problems.
